The following is an is an excerpt from the Bay State Games newsletter.

The Yawkey Foundation has been a generous funder of the Bay State Games since 1994, with grants to our organization totaling nearly $1 million, making it among Bay State Games’ largest and longest standing philanthropic supporters. The Foundation is dedicated to perpetuating the charitable legacy of Tom and Jean Yawkey, whose eight decades of quiet generosity supported individuals and families in the communities that were closest to their hearts. Having awarded more than $500 million to nonprofit organizations to date, the Yawkey Foundation continues to demonstrate its commitment to sustaining the vibrancy of youth amateur athletics, and all the benefits these activities bring to players, fans and communities. For its support of our organization, and donations of more than $88 million since 1977 to nonprofits that champion youth amateur athletics, and in particular baseball and softball, Bay State Games is grateful for this relationship which has spanned three decades

Bay State Games imparts on Massachusetts athletes the same values that were fundamental to Tom and Jean Yawkeys’ lifetime of giving and passion for athletics, which is why the Yawkey Foundation is so proud to be a supporter. We know that our funding is an investment in the important life lessons for athletes on the power of hard work, persistence, teamwork and sportsmanship.
