On March 29, 2023, the Yawkey Foundation leadership, alongside supporters and clinical leaders from Boston Medical Center, attended a ribbon-cutting event for the new home of BMC’s Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Clinic. This initiative was made possible by a $3 million grant from the Yawkey Foundation, which will create a single-stop location for quality medical and behavioral pediatric and family care in the BMC Crosstown building at 801 Massachusetts Avenue. The new location will also house BMC Pediatrics, General Internal Medicine, and Family Medicine departments, as well as coordinated care and navigation services, such as transportation, social worker, and interpreter support. This is especially important given the current pressures on families, including the pandemic and inflation, which have resulted in an increased need for mental health services for children. The Yawkey Foundation has been a long-time supporter of BMC and has provided over $16 million in charitable grants for health care, human service programs, and capital projects since 2003.
The Yawkey Foundation proudly announced the grant had been awarded to BMC on January 24th 2023, on what would have been Jean Yawkey’s 114th birthday.
