WESTWOOD, MA – The Trustees of Yawkey Foundation II are delighted to announce the appointment of James P. Healey as Chairman, effective January 1, 2026. This appointment represents a key milestone in the Trustees’ succession plan aligned with the transition of John L. Harrington, who served as the founding Chairman for 44 years, and who will continue to serve as a Trustee of Yawkey Foundation II and as Chairman of Yawkey Foundation I.
“Jim is transitioning into the Chairman role with the talent, passion, and experience consistent with the most exemplary qualities and experience our Trustees would expect,” said John L. Harrington. “His personal relationship with the Yawkeys while working for the Yawkey-owned Boston Red Sox over many decades provide him with a unique perspective and touchpoint to the charitable values and actions of Jean and Tom Yawkey.”
Mr. Healey brings extensive institutional knowledge to the role, having served the Foundation since 2002, including as President from 2007 until his retirement in 2019. Since his retirement, he has continued his commitment to the Foundation’s mission as a Trustee. Mr. Healey is a graduate of Catholic Memorial High School and Boston College.
“It is truly an honor to serve as Chairman and to continue working alongside our dedicated Trustees and talented staff to perpetuate the meaningful philanthropic tradition of Jean and Tom Yawkey’s commitment to investing in healthy, vibrant communities with opportunity for all,” said Mr. Healey.
