The New England Center and Home for Veterans (NECHV) has been awarded a $500,000 Strategic Investment Grant from the Yawkey Foundation to support the reconfiguration and expansion of their facilities in downtown Boston to better accommodate the most vulnerable Veterans they serve.
Jean and Tom Yawkey deeply revered Veterans throughout their lifetimes. During their seven decades of Red Sox ownership, many of the team’s players served our country before, during, and after their Major League baseball careers. The Yawkeys’ closest personal friend, Ted Williams, served in both World War II and the Korean War, and they often expressed, in words and actions, their deep gratitude to all the dedicated individuals who bravely serve in the U.S. military.
