Over $127 million invested to date to support individuals and families meet their critical needs.
DEDHAM, July 15, 2024 – The Trustees of the Yawkey Foundation are pleased to announce the distribution of $1.65 million in Program & Small Capital grants to 31 Human Service nonprofit organizations across Greater Boston. These grants are intended to help dedicated nonprofit organizations deliver on their missions to provide critical resources, services, and support to underserved youth and families across eastern Massachusetts. Their missions perpetuate the legacy of Tom Yawkey and Jean Yawkey, who believed deeply in strengthening communities by addressing the unmet basic needs of vulnerable individuals and families.
In addition to the Program & Small Capital Human Service grants, the Yawkey Foundation recently awarded Camp Harbor View a $7.5 million Transformational Capital grant for capacity building as it prepares to move and co-locate its operations and programs to a space in Dorchester that is more convenient and accessible for the youth and families it serves. Additionally, the Foundation provided a $1.5 million Transformational Capital grant earlier this year to Father Bill’s & MainSpring to support the new housing resource center in Brockton. These grants reflect the Foundation’s commitment to capital investments in organizations that are dedicated to uplifting individuals and families.
The Foundation also recently provided a $400,000 Strategic Investment Grant to La Colaborativa to help launch El Mercado, a food pantry that aims to address food insecurity and nutrition-based medical wellness for residents of Chelsea and surrounding communities.
The 31 Human Service nonprofit organizations receiving 2024 Program & Small Capital grants are located across Greater Boston, including the Gateway Cities of Lawrence, Lowell, Lynn, Malden, New Bedford, and Salem. These organizations provide essential services such as food assistance, shelter, youth programs, and family support, contributing to the well-being of the region’s most underserved communities.
