Good Sports, a non-profit organization creating equitable access in youth sports and physical activity, partnered with Yawkey Foundation to donate $17,600 in baseball and softball equipment to the Roxbury YMCA. The donation of equipment increases access to quality athletics programming for young people in Roxbury so they may experience the joy and life lessons associated with playing team sports.
Over two decades, Good Sports has provided more than $100 million in sports equipment and benefited over 9.3 million kids across the country. Good Sports is committed to driving equitable access in youth sports and supporting children in high-need communities to achieving their greatest potential. Their efforts to make sports accessible is aligned with Tom and Jean Yawkey’s love for the game of baseball, which they understood as an incredible force in bringing communities together and for building skills such as cooperation, respect, and discipline.
