The YMCA of Greater Boston has announced it has received a generous grant from the Yawkey Foundation totaling $700,000 to fund essential facility improvements at the Roxbury Y. In 2024, the Yawkey Foundation awarded a $150,000 grant to renovate Roxbury’s Welcome Center to increase accessibility, communal space, and update the entry space. This additional major funding continues to ensure that the Roxbury Y can serve as a safe, modern, and welcoming community hub for Roxbury residents of all ages. Open on average 14 hours a day, this Y location welcomes 4,000 visitors a week and includes an early learning, teen center, outdoor field and pavilion alongside the pool, gym, and fitness center.
